The topic for our next Charities Facilities Management Group meeting is "Facilities Management and Wellbeing".
Staff wellbeing is often considered a focus area for HR departments, but facilities managers make a major contribution to the environment of staff, volunteers and visitors. Research is increasingly showing that a positive working environment contributes to innovation, productivity and staff retention.
Building design features such as natural light, opening windows, sound baffling, plants and social spaces affect the health, satisfaction and job performance of workers. Many organisations are also introducing support services such as guided exercise classes, yoga, access to counselling and themed events focusing on particular issues such as stress.
The meeting is being organised by Sean Bridge of Friends of the Earth, and the main speaker will be Rebecca Pearce, Head of Sustainability at international property consultants CBRE.
