The Board of the Building Futures Group has announced that the company has ceased trading.
A statement on the organisation’s website, entitled “The Building Futures Group announces business closure after two successful years”, gives no reason for the closure.
The Building Futures Group was set up following the merger of the Facilities Management Association and the former sector skills council Asset Skills and the Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA) in 2013.
The Group said it would give the FM industry a bigger profile. Under the 'Asset Skills Training' name it was going to deliver a nationwide programme of training courses for people working in f.m., housing, property and cleaning services.
It is not clear whether any training will continue. There is currently no option for contacting the organisation via the website.
The British Institute of Facilities Management had discussions with the Building Futures Group about a merger, but pulled out. The CSSA voted to leave the organisation in January 2015.
Asset Skills took over the charity Upkeep in 2011. The charity, which had been educating people about building care since 1979, was closed down three years later.
